		Dear all,

Thanks for registering for the PNR/CRS workshop tomorrow at 11h00-13h00 in A5E1! You have registered because you need a badge to enter the European Parliament. If that is not the case, I have made a mistake. Apologies for that...

But if it is the case, please bring your passport or ID and come to the Accreditation Centre <http://goo.gl/CRSzB> . Be there at 10h30 since it takes a while to sign everybody in. Here is a map <http://epfsug.eu/wws/arc/epfsug/2011-04/msg00021/ep_map.png> and picture <http://epfsug.eu/wws/arc/epfsug/2011-04/msg00021/acc_centre.jpg> so you find your way if this happens to be your first time visiting the EP.

We have to bring you in "manually" at the Accreditation Centre so it can take a little time, and since there can be queues and other obstacles to speedy entry, it is better to be early and have a 10 minute margin than late and get stressed. So we should gather 30 minutes before the workshop starts. At 10h30 Louise Ferry from MEP Malika Benarab-Attou's office will be there to help you!! :-)

If you are late and/or have any other problems with entering, please feel free to call me +32 484 082 063.

Also, please feel free to forward and copy this invitation and information. All are welcome.

		Best regards.

			Dear Colleagues,

I write to you to inform that MEP Eva Lichtenberger is hosting an Open Workshop on PNR/CRS on 19 October 11h00-13h00 in A5E1, Altiero Spinelli Building (ASP), to which you are very welcome. The format is open in the sense that the main purpose of the workshop is to discuss and exchange views to further the understanding of the issues at hand.

PNR ("Passenger Name Record") data contains airline, hotel, and other travel reservations and related personal information. Travel companies including airlines, travel agencies, and tour operators outsource the storage of PNR data to a few CRSs ("Computerized Reservation Systems") that operate inter-connected global real-time "Cloud Services" networks.

Travel expert and privacy and human rights advocate Mr Edward Hasbrouck will give an overview of the current state of play and the issues on the table with respect to (1) commercial storage and processing of PNR data by CRS companies who act as providers of a globally stored and accessible "Cloud Services", and (2) government access to and use of personal information in PNRs stored, transmitted, and processed by these CRSs.

Government access to PNR data is already on the agenda of Parliament and of both the LIBE and TRAN committees. PNR data stored by CRSs provides a leading example of the issues raised by storage of personal data by "Cloud Services", issues of jurisdiction, oversight, and accountability with regards to both commercial and government use of this data.

Mr. Hasbrouck has 15 years of experience working with PNR data and CRSs in the travel industry, and is a leading expert on how PNR data is stored, processed, and used by the travel industry and law enforcement agencies. His work in the U.S. includes a legal case against the DHS in which he is trying to obtain access to his own PNR data and an accounting of how it has been "shared" and used. In Brussels, he has consulted with many MEPs, submitted comments to the Commission during their public consultation on the privacy and data protection provisions of the "Code of Conduct for CRSs", and testified about PNR data at a hearing before MEPs in 2010.

I look forward to see you at the Workshop, and invite you to share and forward this invitation with the instruction below to anyone you think would be interested.

If you need a badge to enter the Parliament, please send an email to hub at mypnr.eu with the subject line "I need a badge for PNR workshop 19 October".

			With best regards,

			Erik Josefsson
